How Herbal Mojo Works

Herbal Mojo is a six herb capsule taken 30 to 40 minutes before sexual activity and only when needed. This page sets out the mechanism an erection depends on, which herbs in the formula act on it, and what the research behind each one actually measured. The evidence is uneven and stated as such.

What happens during an erection

Rigidity comes from pressure rather than muscle effort. Sexual stimulation triggers the release of nitric oxide in the erectile tissue, which raises cyclic GMP, relaxes the smooth muscle lining the cavernosal arteries and lets blood fill the corpus cavernosum.

As the tissue expands it presses the draining veins against the fibrous sheath around it, slowing outflow and holding the pressure. An enzyme called PDE5 breaks cyclic GMP down again, which ends the erection.

Every oral treatment in this field works on one of those steps. Prescription PDE5 inhibitors slow the breakdown of cyclic GMP at a stated dose, which is why they need sexual stimulation to have started the signal in the first place.

Which herbs act on that mechanism

Two of the six have laboratory evidence against PDE5, and neither has been tested in men. That distinction matters more than the mechanism itself.

Icariin, the active compound in Horny Goat Weed, inhibited human PDE5A1 with an IC50 of 5.9 micromolar against 74 nanomolar for sildenafil in the same assay, roughly eighty times weaker. An earlier assay measured it at 0.432 micromolar, a more than tenfold disagreement between the two, which is a reason for caution rather than confidence.

Four coumarins from Cnidium Monnieri, including osthole, relaxed isolated rabbit erectile tissue. That study did not test PDE5 inhibition, and rabbit tissue in a bath is not a man.

What the research behind each herb measured

Herb Amount What the cited research measured
Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii) 154 mg Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in healthy men, 1,500 mg or 3,000 mg daily for 12 weeks. Sexual desire improved from week eight. Serum testosterone and oestradiol did not differ from placebo.
Tribulus Terrestris 49 mg Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 180 men aged 18 to 65 with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, 12 weeks. Erectile function and satisfaction improved against placebo. Testosterone was not a reported outcome.
Ginkgo Biloba 49 mg Open trial with no placebo group, 63 patients with antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction. Reported 84 per cent response overall and 76 per cent among the 30 men. Later placebo-controlled trials have not consistently reproduced it.
Saw Palmetto 24.5 mg The NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health states that rigorous studies do not support saw palmetto for benign prostatic hyperplasia or for any other condition. Present for traditional use.
Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium) 24.5 mg Isolated enzyme assay, not a human study. Icariin inhibited PDE5 roughly eighty times more weakly than sildenafil.
Cnidium Monnieri 24.5 mg Isolated rabbit erectile tissue, not a human study. PDE5 inhibition was not tested.
Total 325.5 mg

Every human trial above used a daily dose well above the amount of that herb in one capsule, taken continuously for twelve weeks. The maca trial used 1,500 mg to 3,000 mg a day against 154 mg here, so those results describe the herbs rather than this product. Full profiles and the source list are on the ingredients page.

How long does Herbal Mojo take to work

Effects are typically reported within 30 to 40 minutes of taking a capsule, and reported to last up to 24 hours. Taking it on an empty stomach gives the fastest absorption, and a large or high-fat meal beforehand slows it down.

Individual results vary with age, overall health and underlying conditions.

How do you take Herbal Mojo

  1. Take one or two capsules 30 to 40 minutes before sexual activity.
  2. Take on an empty stomach for fastest absorption.
  3. It can be taken with alcohol.
  4. Do not exceed the amount stated on the pack.

Use is as needed only. There is no daily schedule, no loading period and nothing being built up. Full guidance is on the usage guidelines page.

What Herbal Mojo does not do

It does not raise testosterone. The maca trial cited above measured serum testosterone directly and found no difference from placebo, and testosterone was not a reported outcome in the Tribulus trial.

It does not change anatomy, and it is not a treatment for erectile dysfunction. There is no clinical trial of the finished six herb formula, so nothing on this page rests on one.

Is Herbal Mojo safe to take

No adverse effects have been reported to us by customers when Herbal Mojo is taken as directed. That is a record of what buyers have told us, not a safety trial, and it does not establish that the formula is free of interactions.

Men taking nitrate based heart medication, blood thinners or any other prescription drug should speak to a doctor before use. Persistent or worsening erectile difficulty needs a medical assessment rather than a supplement. See the medical disclaimer.
